How the New York Jets are shaping up at linebacker for the 2025 NFL season

Quincy Williams, Jamien Sherwood and Jermaine Johnson are the starting linebackers for the Jets.

The veteran Williams, known for his speed and tackling ability, provides experience and leads by example.

Sherwood stepped in for the injured C.J. Mosley and became the leader of the defense by season’s end. He had 158 tackles, 2 sacks and 3 pass deflections in 2024 and was voted Jets MVP by his teammates.

Johnson had an impressive rookie year and made the Pro Bowl in his second season. His success in 2025 will depend on his ability to stay healthy, after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans last year.

The linebacker trio of Quincy, Jamien and Jermaine showcases a blend of experience, versatility, and emerging talent, making them a key strength for the team’s defense moving forward. With Sherwood’s leadership and Johnson’s potential for a strong comeback, the future looks bright for Gang Green.
