New York Jets re-sign Jamien Sherwood to 3-year $45 million contract

Linebacker Jamien Sherwood was going to become a free agent in the offseason. But the Jets didn’t let the 25-year-old sign with another NFL team. After C.J. Mosley was injured in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans, Sherwood replaced him on the defense and remained the starter for the last 15 games. With his speed and instincts, he finished with 158 tackles, 2 sacks and 3 pass deflections in 2024. He became a leader for the team and was voted the team’s MVP by his teammates. Jamien had a breakout season and was rewarded a new contract from new general manager Darren Mougey. He will be a key player for Aaron Glenn as the new head coach implements his new defensive scheme. Sherwood is a young linebacker whose best playing days are ahead of him, which is why Gang Green brought him back to the team.
